Tricia Dawn Williams solo recital

The Manoel Theatre in Valletta opens the new year with a recital by contemporary pianist Tricia Dawn Williams on Wednesday at 8pm. The concert is part of the Wednesdays at the Manoel series, which was launched last season and is proving to be a popular midweek cultural break for both locals and tourists.

Williams is a concert pianist with an unusual and colourful profile. As a dedicated promoter of music by living composers, she has commissioned, premiered, recorded and broadcast numerous new works, and is a frequent collaborator on the creation of interdisciplinary projects with new technologies.

Her international performances include, among others, Les Invalides in Paris, the Béla Bartok Memorial House in Budapest, the Festival International de Carthage in Tunisia, the John F. Kennedy Centre for the Performing Arts in Washington DC, Abbaye aux Dames de Saintes in France and the Festival di Castel dei Mondi in Italy.

In Malta, she has performed in various festivals and venues, including the Malta Arts Festival, Għanafest, the International Spring Orchestra Festival, Contemporary Sounds Series, Science in the City, Evenings on Campus, Notte Bianca, Żigużajg – Arts Festival for Children and Young People, Valletta International Piano Festival, Modern Music Days and The Three Palaces Festival.

During this concert, Williams will perform works by John Cage, Mariella Cassar Cordina, Makiko Kinoshita, Konstantia Gourzi, Veronika Krausas and Graham Fitkin. There will be a pre-recital talk for ticket holders at 7.15pm.
