La Vallette Hall, Mediterranean Conference Centre, Valletta (MALTA)

The Malta Association for Contemporary Music and fashion designers Charles and Ron are presenting an inter-disciplinary event combining fashion with modern classical music. On Monday 16th May, Malta Fashion Week will feature a vibrant programme of contemporary music as a soundtrack to the new collection by C&R. The repertoire selected for this event includes music by internationally renowned composers: Berio, McAllister, Morricone and Xenakis as well as compositions by contemporary Maltese: Karl Fiorini, Albert Pace, Ruben Zahra and Veronique Vella. The programme features Duo Alterno from Italy and local ensembles: Equinox Trio and Sarsaza Percussion ensemble.

The fashion show / recital is the first event within the Contemporary Sounds concert series supported by the Malta Arts Fund. Contemporary Sounds will present six events between May and December 2011 introducing modern classical music to new audiences in unexpected settings.
