IONISATION – Distant Echoes of ...

Ionisation (1929-1931) for 13 percussionists, by Edgard Varèse, is among the first concert hall compositions for percussion ensemble alone. The programme includes other important 20th century works by John Cage, Karlheinz Stockhausen and Frank Zappa. This concert features the Ars Ludi ensemble from Italy alongside local other percussionists. Produced by the Malta Association for Contemporary Music in collaboration with Teatru Manoel as part of the Valletta 2018 Cultural Programme in the run up to the European Capital of Culture year.
